Building Convervation & Restoration

Works to historic buildings demand a thorough understanding of construction principles, and building conservation, and an appreciation of the value of historic features. In particular, we can assist in preparing a detailed plan, specification and project of restoration with due regard to historic stonework, brickwork, metalwork and paint schemes.

We also have experience in preparation heritage statements for the planning application, considering conservation principles such as restoration, minimal intervention and reversibility.

The first picture adjacent is a late Victorian residential block in Knightsbridge. My role was to advise how best restore the historic features, including Queen Anne-style gables, hand-crafted brickwork and failing fayence corbels, then prepare a specification for external redecoration and restoration.

The second picture is from a typical Georgian residence in Kensington, where I was required to advise on the external redecoration, in particular, a failing balcony and portico.
